I made one of these then just couldn't resist making another five to match! Having a some meant that so many of the baby blankets out there were just too pretty. Each of these is suitable for a baby boy or a baby girl, just by altering the colour of the animal and the edging.
The animals are made separately then sewn on to the background with wadding in between to produce a 3D effect. The tongue, nose and eyes are worked in as you go. There are a few ends to sew in and you may find it easier to do this as you go along. The wadding is optional. It simply makes the animal stand out more when it is quilted on to the background.
Using above materials, 16 sts and 20 rows to 10 cm (4 in)
