i'm not the author of this, but page 2 spells it out quite clearly.

round 1 - chain 2, join with a slip stitch to first in chain to form a CIRCLE

round 2 - CHAIN 2, hdc 9 INTO CENTER OF CIRCLE

hope this helps.as i've cap'd the words i think you're missing

i've tried this pattern about a million times, I don't understand it!!! its so frustrating, because it tells you to ch.2 and sl st in the first, however then it wants you to hdc, hdc into what??? i'm not understanding this, someone please help me...
