Skill Level:

small skill level requirement Beginner

Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Skill Level: EASY This is a project created using basic stitches, simple colour changes and minimal shaping and finishing. It incorporates a repetitive pattern using basic crochet stitches.

Pattern Description:

Bribie is a breezy, floaty, fun skirt perfect for warm summer days. It's totally seamless and constructed from the top-down to make customising a piece of cake. With a waistband casing for either a drawstring or elastic, this skirt will fit perfectly every time.

{{The rippled stitch design of Bribie, inspired by the ripples on the surface of water in the shallows on the beach, has been devised to showcase multicoloured yarns - particularly those with long runs of colour. The intertwining of stitches over multiple rows blends the colours together avoiding the solid blocks normally created by rows of taller crochet stitches. The effect can also be easily achieved by using solid colours worked in stripes. Have fun with colour and enjoy Bribie.}}

17sc to 4" on 4.5mm hook (or size required to achieve gauge for DK
15sc to 4" on 5.0mm hook (or size required to achieve gauge for light worsted

A note regarding gauge: For this pattern, gauge is not critical as the elastic waistband or drawstring makes a perfect fit easy. It is more important to get the feel and drape of the fabric right. If it feels too stiff and thick, go up a hook size. If it is looking too loose and see-through (it is a skirt after all!), change to a smaller hook. It is up to you.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • 0-6 months through to size 14
  • To fit 16" - 29" waist

  • 260 - 900m of DK or light worsted yarn.
  • Cotton, bamboo, silk or blends containing these fibres are recommended.
  • Heavy worsted is not recommended.

You Will Also Need:

  • Tapestry needle
  • 3/4" wide waistband elastic (optional)
