I have always loved the vintage aviator leather caps I've seen in movies, cartoons, and old pictures. I searched for one, and found a vintage pattern that was sort of the right idea, but not quite was I was looking for, so I decided to just make my own!
This hat is versitle, wear it with the strap buttoned or unbuttoned. The chin strap is adjustable, becuase the button hole is any space between stitches. It is very stretchy, so it fits a wider range of sizes.

My kids were in a production of The Nutcracker one year and had long rehearsals. Parents were required to stay and wait for them. I needed something to do while I waited so I bought some yarn and a few hooks, watched some YouTube videos and printed out a few how-to tutorials from the Internet. My OBSESSION was born! The rest is history! Everything I know about crocheting I taught myself. It is how I relax and de-stress. Creating new patterns and seeing the finished product is a much needed creative outlet for me.
