I believe everyone needs a little handmade in their life. Being an Army wife, there are Coffees and FRG meetings every time I turn around and there are ALWAYS new babies in the Squadron! I really don't like buying a generic store bought gift, so I started making things to contribute to the gift baskets. Problem is, I didn't always get much notice. So I started making these flower hair clips (in CAV red, of course!) because it only takes about an hour to work up a pair of them. Then they were just so darned cute I couldn't stop making them! The Omega Rustca Eclat adds a fabulous little sparkle and because it's thread crochet, you don't get that, "Oh, it's homemade," response at first glance. Instead it's, "Oh! You MADE this!?" which is so much more exciting to hear! They're super fun to make and they really do make a great last minute handmade gift for a special little girl.
Gauge is not terribly important for this project, but if you choose to use a larger hook or thread/yarn, you may need to use a larger size of hair clip.

I've been crafting in one way or another since my mother first allowed me to use scissors. College and a few years in the Army slowed me down quite a bit, but I picked the crochet hook back up in earnest in 2009 and I haven't looked back!
