This bag turned out really great and it is my favorite! It's the perfect size and the strap is crocheted long so the bag sits at the hip. It is very easy to make and the stitch used is an easy and unique version of a simple stitch. Because the bag is not lined, the stitches are made using a small hook to create a tight fit. I used Caron Simply Soft yarn which is a "thinner" worsted weight yarn. It is important to check your gauge so that you don't end up with a bag that's too small or too big. Once you've matched the gauge, you can use a hook size bigger/smaller if you'd like the bag to be a little bigger/smaller than the dimensions given to match the gauge. Instructions for how to make a gauge swatch are included in my pattern.
18 dc stitches = 4 inches
