Pattern Description:

My great-granny crocheted some beautiful doilies, I took the central flower motif (something old) and turned it into a delicate petal bridal garter (something new) in a beautiful soft blue to make 'Something Blue'.

This is a beautiful garter for any bride, a future heirloom in the making.

This pattern could also be used to make edgings for other items in the wedding (shawls, collars, bridesmaid outfits, to decorate a candle holder.)

This pattern is written in UK crochet terminology with US translations provided.


30st and 10 rows in tr st to measure 10x10cm/4x4in

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • To fit thigh 40(50,60) cm /16(20, 24) inches


  • DMC Petra Cotton Crochet Thread size 5
  • 2mm hook (or size needed to achieve tension)

  • 70cm white hat elastic
