  • Making basic stitches (ch, sl, sc, dc)

Pattern Description:

Here is my shell trim baby hat crochet pattern. This pretty hat is made using a tight stitch and will keep little heads nice and cozy in the cooler months. The shell trim adds extra femininity as does the layered blossom. Use a coordinating fabric covered button and really make this hat look irresistably cute! PLEASE NOTE: Whilst this hat pattern may be suitable for beginners the layered flower may prove quite challenging as is rated Easy/Intermediate.


Sc worked over 7 stitches and 7 rows measures two inches square using crochet hook 6.0mm (US J).

  • Baby 1-3 months 14"
  • Baby 3-6 months 15"
  • Baby 6-9 months 16"
  • Baby 9-12 months 17"
  • Toddler 12-24 months 18"
  • Kid 3-5 years 19"


  • Crochet Hooks 6.0mm (US J) and 5.5mm (US I)
  • Worsted (medium/4/aran) weight yarn
