'My Wicked Scarf', named after Elphaba, the novel and broadway musical WICKED.
(This pattern calls for handspun AND mill spun/store bought yarn. IT CAN ALSO BE MADE with only handspun or only mill spun yarn)
I love texture; textured stitches, textured yarn, combining different textures, all of it. I also really love using handspun yarn, but lets face it - the good stuff isn't cheap. That is one reason I like to use handspun yarn WITH mill spun yarn, makes it last longer/go farther. Sometimes handspun yarn can be delicate and I feel that using mill spun yarn with it helps make it a bit more durable as well. There doesn't seem to be many patterns written for handspun yarn and that's a shame because it is so delightful. Some people might be intimidated to use handspun yarn - it is different than millspun yarn - but if you step outside of that comfort zone you'll be thrilled with the result. For the scarf in the photos I used mill spun yarn Caron's Simply Soft and handspun yarn from The Fine Lime (she has a shop on Etsy - check it out!). The pattern contains information on both types of yarn
This pattern would be perfect for a beginner - there aren't any tricky/new stitches. As always, if you have any questions I am happy to help.

I learned to crochet when I realized my babies only like blankets made of yarn--they are my Yarn Babies! I started with just blankets 7 years ago, and now I crochet anything and everything - I LOVE YARN! After following/reading a bazillion other patterns, and making up my own designs, I started writing and selling my own patterns. My yarn addiction has also led me to SPINNING! I spin fibers into yarn and it is a BLAST! See my Facebook page for more info about purchasing handspun yarn.
