Pattern Description:

I have improvised this stitch pattern, and I am very pleased with how it worked out in a hat. In this color it reminds me of the deep blue sea, hence the name of the hat.

The pattern is written using American crochet terminology.

  • 91/2" (24cm) height from base of brim to top-center of crown


  • Rico Essentials Merino DK, 100% merino wool 120m (131yd) per 50g (1.76oz) ball, shade #45 mint, 3 balls total
  • Or approximately 360m (393yd) of sport- or DK-weight yarn
  • Crochet hook in size G (4mm) or size needed to achieve gauge
  • Yarn needle for weaving in ends
