Front Post Headband - worsted and bulky

Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Slip stitch, single crochet, double crochet, front post double crochet (one row below) - ALL fully explained in pattern along with 'how to' photos.

Pattern Description:

This headband pattern is actually 2 in 1! There is a version for worsted weight yarn, and a version for bulky weight yarn. For the worsted weight I used Vanna's Choice "Kelly Green" and for the bulky I used Lion Brand Homespun "Nouveau". If you are new to post stitches I give direction and explain how to do them, along with photos shown in the pattern. However, I highly suggest trying the worsted weight version if you are new to post stitches because it's much easier to see the stitch and see what goes where. The Homespun yarn was difficult to see the stitch, but makes such a comfy headband. You may use any worsted weight (4) or bulky weight (5) yarn for these patterns.
I absolutely love winter headbands and refuse to buy them when I can make my own!

Bulky weight: 11 dc = 4 inches
Worsted weight: 14 dc = 4 inches

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Pattern written for teen/adult size, but I do list measurements for age 1-2, 2-5, 5-8, preteen/teen, adult woman, and adult man. I also list a starting chain for each size and you can stop at whichever width you are comfortable with.

  • J hook for both worsted and bulky, about half a skein of Vanna's Choice or Homespun yarn.

You Will Also Need:

  • A button or two of your choice, needle and thread to sew on buttons or may use yarn to sew buttons on if buttonholes are large enough to fit a large needle through.

Preferred Brand/Yarn:

Vanna's Choice, LB Homespun
