started Black Pearl Creations in 2001. I started out by making American flag throws for servicemen overseas. Even though satisfying, I wanted to use more colors and branched out into other throws. The migration to clothing was inevitable as I bore easily. That is the main reason for my limited production runs. After creating an item a couple of times, I never want to make it again.
One may think that growing up in England, I would be adverse to greys, browns and blacks. But I think because I did grow up in England that my attraction to color is obvious as a manifestation of my rebelling to tradition. I'm very conservative by nature so crocheting allows me to break out of my comfort zone and get "wild" with color.
Black Pearl is now evolving into an urban bohemian line. The rustic buttons, fringe, and colors are lending themselves to the brand that is Black Pearl.
I am opening a brick and mortar in Spring 2014. I am raising capital to remain independent and not beholden to the banks. If you would like to contribute, you may do so here: http://igg.me/at/Black-Pearl-Creations/x/5132440 Thank you in advance.
Cables are usually the knitters domain. I found some crochet cable hat patterns but they were all going in the same direction and didn't have any OOMPH! I came up with this pattern and I absolutely love it.
The yarn used is readily available and highly recommended. This is for an intermediate crocheter only because of some of the stitches and terminology.
Instructions are clearly written and washing suggestion is also included.

16sc x 11 rows = 4" x 4" and this hat DOES stretch!
