Angelika is a beautiful crochet shawl pattern designed for lace-weight yarn. If you love the look and drape of knitted lace shawls but prefer to crochet, this is the shawl pattern for you.
The main body of the shawl is created with an easy-to-memorize stitch pattern and four-row repeat at the center point, perfect for crocheting while watching television or commuting. A contrasting lace pattern, which can be worked in a second color or in the same color as the upper portion, forms the bottom edge.
This batwing-shape design is worked from the neck down and grows longer and wider with each row, so can be made in any length desired, and the contrast lace pattern may be worked for as many rows as desired.
Although this is designed for lace-weight yarn, it can be made in any yarn weight with appropriate hook size. For the shawl shown, the upper portion used one complete 50 gm/440 yd. hank lace-weight yarn, while the contrasting color portion along the edge used about half a skein of the same yarn. If you prefer, you can add more rows to the body portion, or continue to work the border rows until your yarn runs out. Instructions are included for these options.
