What You'll Need:
- Quilt top: 2 yards background fabric and 33 quarter-yard cuts in a variety of prints.
- Backing: 4 to 4.5 yards
- Batting/Wadding: 72" x 72"
- Binding: 0.5 yard (half a yard)
- Sewing machine and general sewing and quilting supplies
- No. 12 Universal or Topstitch needles
- Thread: 100% cotton 50-weight, in a neutral color for piecing and silk-finish in colors to match appliquéd shapes
- Rulers: 6" x 12" for general cutting, 12.5" square for squaring up blocks
- 8-to-the-inch graph paper, 14" x 14" sheets or larger
- Lined index card
- Card stock or manila folder
- Template plastic or freezer paper

Learning Lots of New Procedures!
Laura, your class has been so enlightening for me! I took a quilting class in 1976, and got a way for a while a couple of times! In around 2002, I joined a round robin quilt group in which we traded packets of material and ideas and did a block for someone else each month. I felt like the worst sewer of the bunch! Now I am glad I took this route, as I have learned so much each month! I would never have tried a Dresden plate type block any other way than applique, but my block turned out ...

Great BOM
I am absolutely enjoying the 2013 BOM! Laura doesn't leave anything out! Her presentation is precise, clear and very helpful in presenting what to do what not to. Most enjoyable though is her relaxed easy-going style!! Love her choice of fabric for a fresh modern looking quilt!!
Learning is fun!
I am having some keyboard difficulties. My cat Kyla is insisting she lay under my arm and I am missing a key. Any way I have done many crafts all my life and sewed for my children and myself but while always interested in doing a quilt I never tried. Before Christmas I made three of just blocks just blocks with insets, applique and one a design pieced in to it. O how much better a job I could have done if only I had had Laura Nowens hint! But PTL I am learning and can do a better job in ...

This is fun
I am enjoying this very much and learning by Laura's hints. I have been sewing since I was a child, but not quilting. With quilting small errors can really stand out and by Laura saying check after each step and the pressing really makes a huge difference in the finish product. Thank you Craftsy for this fun project.
