Learn it...

Learn to make adjustments to the pattern in order to perfectly fit your body's shape. See how to create bust darts, decrease stitches to show off your waistline and add stitches to fit your hips, and change the length and taper of your sleeves for a truly custom fit. Stefanie will also show you how to take proper figure measurements for yourself or anyone you know, both vertical and horizontal and select the correct pattern size to adjust. Throughout the course, Stefanie also shares expert shaping and design tips, so that you can transform even the most shapeless of sweaters into custom-fit garments that you'll love to wear.

Throughout the course, Stefanie debunks the myth of the "average-sized" person, and helps you to embrace your own personal shape. With her guidance, you will soon be wearing a sweater that not only looks good on you, but feels good on your body. Go on-get out your tape measure and Fit Your Knits today.

Stefanie Japel learned to knit from her grandma when she was 8 years old. She grew up wearing her sweaters and borrowing the ones she made for other people. Most of these sweaters are raglans, knit in the round from the top. Stefanie continues this sweater-making tradition.

A gifted designer, Stefanie has published three knitting books: Glam Knits, Fitted Knits and From the Top. Her work has appeared in books and publications including Big Girl Knits, Stitch N Bitch Nation, KnitGrrl, Knit Wit, Not Another Teen Knitting Book, Interweave Knits, Knitscene, Knit.1 and Vogue Knitting. She has designed patterns for Stitch Diva Studios, Southwest Trading Co., JCA Reynolds, Artful Yarns, Tilli Tomas and Mission Falls.

Stefanie's teaching is marked by her infectious enthusiasm and keen eye for detail. Visit her blog for more information: www.stefaniejapel.com.

Excellent Great course for understanding the fundamentals of fit  May 9, 2012

This was my first Craftsy course, and I really enjoyed it! I am an intermediate/advanced knitter... I've been knitting for about 10 years and have knitted a couple dozen sweaters in that time. But I've often been frustrated by the way my sweaters fit, especially at the bust and waist. This course was a very thorough introduction to the fundamentals of fitting a sweater to your body. Excellent Afraid of changing patterns? This is the course for you.  May 4, 2012

I cannot say enough about how good this course is. It has empowered me to make changes in patterns which I was afraid to do in the past. I started small (waist shaping) and growing bigger (completely changing stitch pattern and gauge). Stephanie is a warm and fun teacher, and she really took away the mystery involved in changing patterns.
One warning - this has a lot of math (simple and clearly explained) and little knitting, but this is what changing patterns is all about, isn't it?

Excellent Lots of great information!  April 23, 2012

I've been knitting for about 2 1/2 years now and have started to venture into sweater knitting. As far as fitting has been concerned, I've just kind of "winged it" and gotten lucky. This class has given me a LOT of great tools to make sure my future sweaters and garments INTENTIONALLY fit correctly. Thank you Stephanie for this fabulous class!
