Improve your free-motion quilting skills with my Craftsy class Beyond Basic Machine Quilting! I am excited to show you 17 quilt motifs, including feathers, flowers, borders, leaves, a dragonfly, pumpkin seed fill, and more. In this class, we'll make a beautiful wall hanging, which you can customize with the tips I show you, from planning an intricate project to making the very last stitch!

In my years of quilting, I've been honored to take Best in Show at the International Quilt Fest in Houston and other top quilting competitions. Through the years, I have learned many secrets to making striking, one-of-a-kind quilts with the depth and richness that free-motion quilting helps you achieve. This class will allow you to conquer those free-motion fears, and make a complicated quilt a fun challenge - not an exercise in frustration. You'll learn to mark motifs or stitch them freehand, fill the spaces between them and create a beautiful "quilted lace" border.

Craftsy classes are truly special - not only are they filmed in high-definition and available to you whenever you want (and as many times as you want), but they also give you the opportunity to chat with classmates and ask me questions as you go. If you're not happy, Craftsy will refund your money, no questions asked. Enroll in Beyond Basic Machine Quilting,, and let me show you how to use your free-motion foot to quilt like a pro!

Ann L. Petersen took up quilting more than 20 years ago, and quickly discovered that teaching the art and craft of quilting is her favorite thing. As a designer for the Great American Quilt Factory and its book imprint, Possibilities, Ann learned many techniques she would never have attempted, including the large-quilt strategies she shares with Craftsy. In 2012, Ann's quilt "Basket Case Flowers" will hang in the National Quilt Museum as a selection in the museum's annual contest, "New Quilts from an Old Favorite." Ann lives in Surprise, Arizona and blogs at obsessivequilter.weebly.com.

Excellent Very inspiring class!  May 16, 2012

I absolutely LOVE this class and the format! The only problem is my sewing machine is in my studio, a separate building, but maybe I'll lose weight running back and forth to the computer! I've really learned a lot and certainly plan on signing up for more classes. Thanks, Ann!

Excellent Slow progress, but great teacher!!  May 16, 2012

I love the concept here....take as long as you need to do the course, review what you need to and take notes!! And Ann is a great teacher in that she explains clearly and makes sure you have the concept, but keeps moving along so you don't feel 'stuck' in one place. The ability to take notes and replay video helps if you need to go back over a certain feature she is covering. I know I need a lot more time in *Practice* but with the help of such detailed and clear explanation I know I have ...

You teach the way to do free motion soooo well and I am hooked ,I am trying to master this lovely way of machining and improving very slowly but with Ann the learning of this type of machining is full of fun and can really make you get the most out of the style of free motion
Ann is very skilled at what she does and that is almost certainly past on to us all thanks

Thanks so much Ann. I am a new quilter. I like it also but am not very good yet. I got a lot out of your class and will go over it many times I'm sure. I have taken other classes on line but I like your calmness and presentation. It didn't make me feel inimidated or rushed even though I am very slow. I hope to use the techniques you showed me on lots of projects. I am doing quilting right now on a quilt for my grandson's graduation gift. It is not as good as I would like and it is not uniform ...

Excellent Great Teaching  May 15, 2012

You will enjoy Ann's relaxed method for free motion quilting. The course was comprehensive and Ann included excellent content.

She doesn't waste your time with long "overviews" in each segment. She gets right down to working on the quilt procedure, and that means you will get the knowledge without any useless chatter.

Well done

Ann is a great teacher because she is so comfortable with machine quilting. She makes it look so easy, and although I need a little more practice, she gives encouragement to those needing it. Great class!

I really enjoyed and still enjoy reviewing Ann's classes. She is an excellent teacher. I am also taking Amy's BOM class and really enjoy the different blocks each month. Thanks for offering classes at discounts and free! I live in a small town that does not have a lot of sewing/quilting classes.
