I come from a family of artists and have always loved creating homemade things. My grandma taught me to paint, sew, and needlepoint/cross-stitch at any early age and my fondest memories of her are when we worked our projects together. When my first son was born, she crocheted a beautiful baby blanket for him (which he STILL sleeps with). It was so well loved I was constantly having to ask her to repair holes in it where he'd wind his fingers and toes. After she passed away, I had no one to fix the blanket anymore. So, I took it upon myself to finally learn to crochet! Although I wish she had taught me (my family relocated from KY to MD when I was in middle school), every time I sit down to work on a project, I imagine her working alongside me.
I'm a teacher turned SAHM to two boys-ages 6 and 1. They are obsessed with comic book super heroes, like their dad! I searched forever in vain for crochet patterns for boys that had anything to do with super heroes. So, I finally came up with my own patterns. Now I'M the HERO! I love it when my oldest son comes up to me while I'm crocheting and ask, "Mommy will you make ME something?"
I'm new to the whole online crafting trend. But, after some (not so gentle) nudging by friends I've decided to share my patterns and creations online. Who knows...maybe I'll earn enough to fund the guys' never-ending comic book and action figure collections!
