My daughter asked me to make her Wedding cake - eeeek I had never made a cake in my life, I had 12 months to practice before the big day. I hit the Internet, watched countless demonstrations on YouTube, read books etc., etc., I am from a small country town in Australia, so no hope of me having any formal lessons. After 12months of practice (giving all the practice cakes to my friends) I was ready, well as ready as I ever would be..I made a 5 tier wedding cake, on the top tier was a Bride and Groom ornament that was a gift to my daughter - I am not one for ornaments so had to make it special - I made the centre of the top tier spin - 6 rotations per minute the bride and groom turned. That was the start of a whole new life, after that I had so many requests for cakes, I quit my job as a professional dog groomer and started my speciality cake baking and decorating business.It is run from home, we are in our 2nd year and loving it. There are still a lot of things I need to learn, and your class has taught me some of those, my topsy turvy cakes will now have a more polished look after your instruction. Never too old to learn new tricks.
