I have been quilting on and off for about 4 years. I inherited my Moms old Bernina and started looking through their website. I saw a quilt that used many of the different stitches that came on this machine and it was done in my favorite colors, orange and navy blue. I really wanted to make that quilt. I had no idea how I was going accomplish this, but read through the very well written directions on their website a couple of times and thought to myself, I can make this. So I started the process and found it not too difficult. After purchasing a book titled, Your First Quilt Book. It is a Great book. It helped me alot and was very easy to understand.
I have also hand embroidered for 50+ years and still enjoy that, even though my eyes aren't what they used to be, but when I saw the Bernina 740 embroidering/sewing machine, I had to have it. So now I split my time between machine embroidering and quilting.
I found though that I liked quilting well enough that I am now finishing my 6th. quilt Even though it takes me awhile to finish them. I have no unfinished quilt tops laying around, when I start one I finish it. I have given 4 of them to family members, but have kept my first one and a baby quilt. I will give the baby quilt away someday, it just makes me happy looking at it, since it combines my 2 favorite hobbies, embroidering and quilting.
