I live in the Brookside area of Kansas City Missouri. Having been raised in a small farming community in South Dakota, my maternal and paternal grandmothers both were quilters. I think I was about 8 when I started sewing. My sister and I were members of the Happy Pals 4H club and were always making or baking something. Weaving on my 4 harness loom has been my primary love for these past 20 years.
Together with my husband we have four beautiful daughters. All grown into lovely young women. We are empty nesters except for our black boxer, Cricket.
Quilting became an interest in the fall of 2011. While digging through some old wedding and shower gift boxes tucked away in my cedar chest, I stumbled on to 364 hand pieced 4-stars that were given to me by my maternal grandmother, Doris Roby, in 1979. Also in this box were some string quilt tops that she wanted me have. I pretty much decided that day that I needed to learn to quilt so that I could get these tops quilted and eventually do something with the 4-star (suggestions welcome here)!!
You will see part of my quilting journey here on Craftsy. They have been one of my go-to web sites for learning. The classes that i have taken have been amazing.
