I learned knitting, crochet and all other 'useful and decorative' crafts still in primary school, as a little girl. It was my favourite class. I learned knitting, crochet and all other 'useful and decorative' crafts still in primary school, as a little girl. It was my favourite class. Later on in grammar school this was no longer taught, but as I was rather skinny and couldn't buy clothes easily, my mother arranged for me to have private lessons in sewing/dressmaking - from the age of 12. The sewing teacher taught me even more techniques, outside dressmaking, and any work with textiles and fibres has always had my interest. Still, life and work gets in the way, and I'm only coming back to it now, downshifting from a busy international career. Craftsy has been a great find, and I can't wait to spend more time on the classes and to experiment with what I am learning.
