I took a "Home Ec" class in 8th grade - had to shorten the zipper, so after cutting off the top, I zipped it up :( Needless to say, although my love for sewing began on a bad note (I got a B+ b/c the sewing was very good just the dress was unusable - wish I'd known to remove the zipper and put in a new one!). Anyway, now I sew and quilt (with a long arm). I love being able to design clothing that is my idea and choose the fabrics I love. It seems that ready to wear is 1) poorly made, 2) expensive 3) poor fit (I'm short) 4) or they don't have my size, color etc. 5) Needs alterations.
