I started sewing a few years ago, while attending a course to learn how to make painted dolls. I made 3 dolls and then quit because it's a quite expensive hobby. Then, last year I was diagnosed with a major depression caused by anxiety and stress. I felt I needed to channel my energies in something nice and fulfilling.
My husband bought a Kindle for Christmas and asked me to make a cover. I thought about it and I decided to give it a go. I made a kindle cover using plastic sheet and fabric and elasthic. I had to sew it at least 3 times to get the right measures and shape and to make it look decent but eventually I did it. I showed it on facebook and surprisingly a few friends asked me to make one for them too.
Long story short I started googling for patterns, instructions, fabrics, notions, books. I startedo sewing more challenging projects and in a forthnight I realised I became a sewing addict :) and I even joined a tailoring course in march so I'm now able to sew my own clothes too!
If I don't sew for a couple of days I feel nervous, I always have some project in mind, my house is always in need of attention but I feel so much better, I fully recovered from depression, I feel so proud to be able to make all my accessories and clothing and my daughter has a beautiful wardrobe of mum-made clothes (and toys and bags....)
