What was your inspiration?

Our new pastor was being ordained. I decided to make her a stole using the symbol for the current theme for the United Church of Christ, "God is Still Speaking..." I chose the colors based on three of the four liturgical colors of the year: red, purple, and green (white, the fourth, just didn't go, and Yvette usually wears a white robe). She received it today and loved it. She also told me that 10 of the visiting clergy wanted the phone number of the person who made it. :-)

What are you most proud of?

That I designed it myself without a pattern, because I refused to spend 40 dollars for the only pattern I could find. I also love the way the colors blend.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Go for it. It was very easy to do.

Beautiful. You are brave. Seems like you might have a little cottage industry in the making. I have a friend in the religious community who has some of the most gorgeous fabrics I have ever seen made into special robes for holidays

We shall see if any of those 10 actually call me! Since I teach, my time is very limited from Aug-May. I made the stole in the summer! It would be fun, though, especially as I am nearing retirement.
