Hello elizjeffe1648018, Welcome to Perspective in Landscape Drawing. Congratulations on your two drawings. Would you mind sharing some information [dimensions of sketchpad, type of paper, pencils, process, insights,] etc about these two drawings so that I can give a more informed criticism? Look forward to hearing from you soon.

My sketch pad size is 9x12, heavy weight drawing paper, pencils ere a HB, 4b, and a H to sketch in my drawing. I did a quick sketch for placement and then continued, trying out different mark making with my pencils. I now have more selection for pencils to try out. Both drawings are done from sitting on a log in my yard.

Hello elizjeffe, Thank you for sharing the information on materials and method for these drawings. You are most fortunate to have a yard with plenty of distance and interesting elements to draw. Both drawings are useful ways to approach and render the landscape. The drawing without the border demonstrates how much of the artist's [yours] impression can be conveyed with a brevity of information. The drawing with the border displays how the first drawing could be developed notably in the tonal structure. All-in-all, well done. I look forward to seeing the post of your next assignment.
