Fancy Angora yarn from Kimmet Croft Fibers. 40% Angora and 60% Merino.
What was your inspiration?
These mittens are made the way they were in the 1800's in New England and they look very warm with the shagged lining inside. In my quest for warm mittens, I marked this pattern when I got the magazine and decided to tackle them this winter.
The yarn I chose is a deep purple and is wonderfully suited for these mittens. The challenge is how to capture the color in photographs? I tried several different backgrounds and light sources and white balance settings on my camera. None of them shows the true purple color.
What are you most proud of?
They fit!
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Use the smallest needle that you can comfortably knit with and make a gauge swatch. Use that to determine which size to follow in the pattern.
