What advice would you give someone starting this project? paper piecing is so easy! I love Carol Doak's cd's of patterns and her Foundation Factory program that allows you to size up or down, change/add/whatever you want to do to a pattern. Love her programs and they are very affordable.

I have never seen this pattern, very pretty. I am needing to make a quilt for a baby boy think this would be great! Do you do your own machine quilting. I am trying to learn myself your pattern of the quilting it self looks amazing. How do you achieve it to look so uniform?

because this was baby quilt sized: I traced it on with the sewing blue markers, using a stencil. On big quilts I just practice the design on paper and then I go for it!

by the way, there were plenty of goobers but thankfully they are not noticeable.

Yes, it was one of my first free-motion efforts! At the time I used a water erasable marker and a template. Now I just freehand it all. Practice and you wil find great joy in fmqing!

I designed this quilt using windmills sized to 7" from Carol Doak's software Foundation Factory (it allows you to enlarge or reduce your blocks to any size to whatever you want). And then added the 3.5" blades as borders all around, creating a 45" square baby quilt!
