What advice would you give someone starting this project? Don't be afraid to apply your Craftsy-learned knowledge to other projects. The lessons and techniques taught in Cake-osaurus Rex are applicable to a wide range of sculpted cake projects, including this Deer groom's cake. The same structural components used for Cake-osaurus Rex were used in the deer's neck and head to insure stability.

Also what size wood board do you have for the deer to sit on?

I purchased a large rectangular wood base from the hardware store, I think it was 1 inch thick. You need a very rigid, heavy duty board so it won't buckle or bow when you carry the cake.
