Share a little about the materials, processes and techniques used to create this cake: I wanted to replicate one of Jessica Harris's designs from Simply Modern Cake Designs. I fell in love with the Martha Stewart paper punches and had to order them from the US. I also had to order edible silver leaf and rice/wafer paper. My cake was a double barrel height - about 8" - and was too ambitious and covered it all in one go. Next time, I shall cover the top and sides separately! I had problems in applying the silver leaf from the outstart. I wet/dampened the wafer paper and tried my best to apply a sheet of silver leaf on to it. It would fly everywhere and when it settled on the wafer paper, it started to crumple up. In the end, I gave up on the idea and just punched the paper and used the cut out neat. This was very easy and satisfying. I applied 4 layers of the design on the cake and that hid the fondant mistakes.
