Instructions

I covered a strapless bra in the feature fabric to wear underneath. I used lace for the bodice pieces, trimmed in the feature fabric.

I also drafted a bias cut skirt to replace the original because it is too full for me.

Difficulty:

Category: Sewing

Type of item: Clothing

For: Women

Style: Retro / Vintage, Formal / Bridal, Romantic

Materials

Polyester Lace and Polyester Charmeuse

What was your inspiration?

I noticed this was a pattern that many women on PatternReview liked and made in multiples. I thought it would be fun to make the entire dress in lace and wear a pretty slip dress underneath. (I still like that idea.) After I bought the lace, but before I started sewing, I saw photos on Pinterest of Dolce and Gabbana's Spring 2012 line. They mixed sheer fabrics into their dresses which gave me the idea of mixing lace and something silky.

What are you most proud of?

I think the bias cut skirt is a big improvement over the original vintage style gathered skirt.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Have fun with it

Thank you! One more suggestion - do make the matching belt. There is a lot of ease in the waist.
