What are you most proud of? The fact that I finished it, I originally put on a floral border with half inch crosshatched quilting but thought it looked too busy, so I spent weeks unpicking it and then carefully cutting off the busy border fabric and then sewing on the purple fabric by hand on the border. I then freemotion quilted the feathers and quilted every inch of the quilt, I believe over 2.2 million stitches in the quilting. My husband loathed the quilt said it was dull and the black and purple were ugly. I enterd the quilt in the state quilting competition and won 4 awards, I actually got Amateur Best In Show, So happy I did not listen to him about the colours.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? Make sure that you are really happy with your fabric choices before you start to quilt, it takes 10 times as long to unpick as it does to quilt it, but do go on your gut instinct about colours and quilting, do what makes you happy.

I love your advice as much as your beautifully-worked quilt - including the "don't listen to husband" tip :-D I am stunned that you decided to remove so much painstaking work - but, at the same time, I really understand and think your decision resulted in a true work of art. Congratulations!

Thanks Pam, I am so disappointed with my photo, there is a good photo that of it on the Bernina Facebook site though. Could you tell me do you do all the work yourself on your projects, you are so prolific. Where do you find the time, your work is amazing. Cheers.

haha! wow, thanks! The only thing I did not do all the work on (I hope I mentioned it on the project) were my granddaughter's Blu Bonit quilts which were machine-quilted by a good professional fiend. Since then, I've been gifted with a longarm quilting machine so I'll have to take responsibility for all my future screwups! My girls say I get so much done because 1. I'm a workaholic and 2. I never sleep. Sewing is my therapy to balance that I have to do accounting all day! Congratulations on your quilt's honors, as we've heard: it is wonderful to have a talent, and even more amazing to get recognition for it! Looking forward to more of your creations!
