I serged my project on my Brother 1034D. I rated this project as medium only because I had issues with inserting the zipper on my serger. I ended up taking it to my sewing machine to get it sewed in instead. I think that if I would have had the piping foot I would have been able to insert the zipper on the serger, so if you have this same serger and have that foot, I would recommend using it ...Read full instructions »

What was your inspiration?
My oldest son was kind enough to purchase me a serger for Christmas because I have been wanting to purchase one for a very long time, so that I could get a more professional look on the garments and other items that I sew. It was/is the best gift ever. I really don't know how I have gone through so many years of sewing without owning one before this.
What are you most proud of?
I am most proud of the fact that I actually went through all of the steps to learn the basics and then to actually make something that I can use in my sewing room. Thanks to Amy, I am now confident that I will be able to succeed in making many more projects and gifts with my serger. I am no longer afraid of it, and I am really really good at threading my machine too :-)
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Don't be afraid and don't rush through the lessons. Amy is an excellent instructor and she really knows her stuff. She is also very available if you have questions and/or concerns with your project. Check out my instructions for a couple of tips that will help you complete your project with less frustration.
