This project was made as part of a Craftsy workshop:
One Skein Knit Shrug »

Instructions

Correct workshop not listed, This is not a Shrug, It's the October Mystery Knit Along, The Varick Street Hat.

It involves the magic circle cast on, knitting on double pointed needles and cabling all of which I did for the first time here. Great intro to all of them.

Type of item: Accessory

For: Girls

Style: Mod, Whimsical, Funky, Hipster

Materials

1 skein Spud & Chlo Outer, 65% Superwash Wool/35% Organic Cotton, 60 yards/100 g skein, Color #7219 Buoy Set of 5 US #11 Double Pointed Needles 1 Stitch Marker 1 Cable Needle 1 Yarn Needle

What was your inspiration?

Mostly that it was a Mystery Knit Along and I was between projects. This was fun and helped me do things I'd been reluctant to try on my own.

What are you most proud of?

All of it. I moved outside of my comfort zone, and worked it out. I learned a new cast on method, took on knitting with double point needles (I tend to favor circular ones) and I did cabling for the first time. It's a top down pattern so that was pretty neat too.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

A lot of people said they ran out of the yarn, but I had a bit left over. I kept my stitches fairly tight until I got towards the end, also I did the bind off with larger needles.
