What materials did you use? A variety of art fabrics including: "Ink" by Melissa Marie Collins for Frond Studios; "Rhapsody" and "The Human Element" by Billie Davids; "Watermark" by Lily Mae. Also, Kona Solid in Ash and the diagonal piano keys fabric is part of the Concerto line from Bernartex. Finished size after washing/drying is 53" x 68".

What are you most proud of? With piecing, nearly all of my points matched up and my blocks and finished quilt top were much more "square" than my previous quilts. I'm also really pleased with the 2" diagonal quilting accented with the spiral triangle quilting I did on each of the 4 sides. I debated long and hard about how to quilt it and was uneasy about trying something that I was just making up as I went along. I learned a lot making this quilt and feel my piecing / quilting skills improved tremendously., With piecing, nearly all of my points matched up and my blocks and finished quilt top were much more "square" than my previous quilts. Love, love your quilt. Which pattern was it? Was it one of the ones from the Quilting Quickly 2 class? Great choice of colors.

Sorry, I just read your information about the quilt and where the design came from. Duh, I asked the question before I read it. It is beautiful.

Thanks for your comments! Happy you found the pattern info. I began with making strip sets from the Quilting Quickly 2 class and enjoyed it so much. I'm planning to make another strip quilt from the class instructions - it's SO quick, easy and gratifying!

Thanks for your comments! and glad you found the design/pattern info. I love this strip set technique from Jenny's class - it's fast, easy, and so gratifying! There are so many variations on the layout options which make it particularly appealing. If you decide to try it, I think you'll love it!

What a beautiful creative quilt top and back. Thank you so much for sharing this project it really makes me pause and think about the next quilts I have planned. Maybe I need to spend more time on the "quilt story". I need to better incorporate not only finished size and color but the individuals lifestyle, Thank you so much!

You made my day, Scheri! Making this quilt for my son was a wonderful experience. I also have a themed quilt planned for both my daughter and son-in-law. In my case, finding the perfect fabric(s) or the perfect pattern has sparked the thought process for each I have planned. I know I can't create a meaningful theme for each quilt I make, but I am finding it to be a lot of fun to try!
