What advice would you give someone starting this project? A mixture of weights is fine. For lots of color and textural interaction, choose your yarns in a harmonious color scheme, each in a different texture. For example nubby or glitzy (textured loop), shiny and smooth (ribbon, viscose, or chenille), and fuzzy (mohair or fake fur). Check your yarn stash or shop odd-ball sales. Remember that finer yarns can be held together and used as one.

The can get pattern the pattern for this Troika Scarf is here - http://www.heartstringsfiberarts.com/n38.shtm There are no beads in the scarf shown. One of the yarns I used was a textured yarn - it had a nubby, colorful element plied into it, and I just knit with the yarn as usual.
