What was your inspiration?

I needed a big carry all for groceries. I found this pattern.. and loved it.. It goes from market to beach and back again. The ultimate stuff sack!

What are you most proud of?

How many people love it...I have men and women who love them , I do a different strap for the unisex ones... They are well made and very strong.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Like I always say.. just have fun and let the fabric inspire you~

Oh if you use two pieces.. main and lining you will need two separate pieces both 36 x 36 inches. As usual, pin right sides together, sew all around 4 sides leaving an opening to flip fabric right side out, iron, top stich over flip openning so all four sides are completely sewn. Then follow instructions for straps and elastic. Pockets should be added to lining before you sewing the two fabrics together.

It is a store bought pattern, I just played with it made it work for me, basically it is one yd of fabric for the outside, one for the inside unless the wrong side is okay for viewing then you only need one yard total. Dimensions are 36 x 36 sq with 1/2 " channel for straps. One channel for elastic on each of two facing sides. 1/2 wide elastic strips cut to 10 1/2 inches. attach 3 inches in from the edge of the fabric (DO THESE FIRST) fasten(sew ends securely ) the end 3 inches in from the opposite edge.(This scrunch up the two facing sides (a Lot!) Then 1 channel on each facing side for the straps. Straps can be almost anything, on the one shown here it 21 inches of cording for each strap covered with coordinating fabric. Thread them through the channels and then sew ends together( the fabric will scrunch up) Center the sew edges in the middle of the channel and then sew a straight line from the top of the bag to the bottom of the channel so the sew ends won't slip out from the channel. You can add a button closure or velcro or a snap to keep it closed. This is a great bag with tons of space, but it can become a black hold, gobbling up all your stuff, so making a lining with pockets really helps! Have fun.** Tip fold material (36 x36) in half mark the two elastic sides (facing each other) and two handle sides (also facing each other) so you wont mix things up and have elastic facing a strap... trust me.. easy to happen!..lol.. enjoy\
