Thrifted stretch denim skirt

What was your inspiration?

I found a beautiful denim skirt at my local thrift shop with some lovely embroidery on the bottom. Problem is, it was a size 22! No problem when you know how to sew!!

I bought it for $5 and took it home to my sewing machine. I ripped off the top band and used the bottom portion to make a lovely A-line skirt that really showcases the embroidery. The pattern was self-drafted from a skirt block.

I added contrasting facings from some lovely floral cotton I had lying in my scraps drawer and finished it off with a lapped side zipper. Details of construction can be found at http://coutureacademic.wordpress.com.
