I often hate pet portraits because they seem to inevitably be idealizations of animals that make them seem generic. I really love this because it's the opposite. The fact that this cat has loads of character really comes across and I can look at this painting and feel that I'm looking at a rendition of a living cat rather than a posed, stuffed animal.

Also, I'm super jealous that you got your cat to sit still long enough to paint this.
