What are you most proud of? The spirals. I love how that turned out. At first try, they were uneven and twisted wrong. Now, I've got it down to a science.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? Be patient for the first run. The easiest part is the bucket hat. The hardest part is deciding where to place the ear flaps. Make one for yourself first. Adding the sprials is a bit tricky too. You have to be sure that the chain does not twist on you while you are doing the first set of single crochet in it because coming up the back side and working one sc in each gap will be much harder to see.

I've made several spiral hats lately, My favorite thing to do with the checks is to do them in school colors. Blue and Orange of course for Auburn (sorry Alabama)... and Black and Gold for my former high school Owls. But of course there is Red and White for my daughter's college...the possibilities are endless as are the spirals. I intend to publish a pattern for this hat soon.
