The not in time for Winter Cape

Pattern Info

Pattern info for this project can be found here:
New Look 6007

Difficulty:

Category: Sewing

Type of item: Clothing

For: Women

Style: Cute

Materials

Cashmere and silk for the lining

What are you most proud of?

All the top stitching. It is pretty straight! :)

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

I used interfacing on the bottum to stabilise the hem and streched the peices cut on the bias. Be really careful if you do this to avoid streching the fabric. Its really annoying trying to reshrink it back into place.

It wasn't to hard, which is good because I ma a beginner sewer. One of the trickier things to do was the lining, mainly because there were no instructions. On the whole though it wasn't too difficult, and it came together pretty quickly

I like your cape and the color is one of my favorites. Love your black lace skirt as well! I am working on making skirts.

OMG I just pulled out patterns I wanted to make up for this fall a cape. I saw a posting on patterreview that reminded me that I had patterns and fabric now get moving. LOL . Now your posting.....it's a sign! I have patterns McCalls 5764 and McCalls 5913 and both are unlined. Does this New Look 6007 pattern include lining or did you add lining? This cape is absolutely beautiful and your fabric choices and colors will make this a cape you can wear for years and years. Classic.

Thanks very much! The pattern didn't have lining either, but I thought it would be nicer and warmer to line it. If you do line it, all I did was sew the lining to the facings, added the facings and lining to the collar when I put the collar on and thensewed up the bottum. I forgot to leave a hole in the lining and had to do some unpicking so that I could turn it inside out. Can't wait to see a picture of your cape when it's finished!
