Sweetheart Shawl

Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Sweetheart Shawls »

Instructions

i knitted this project with the great help of Kristin's Sweetheart Shawl's course on the Craftsy knitting course. The shawl was challenging and fun to knit, and I loved doing it. The yarn is beautiful and feels soft and airy. It weighs almost nothing and is like a cloud to wear! Loved the whole thing. Now I want to make another in a darker color - maybe a charcoal grey to wear with whites.

Difficulty:

Category: Knitting

Type of item: Clothing

For: Women

Style: Classic, Romantic, Traditional

Materials

I used Kidlin yarn.

What was your inspiration?

I was browsing the Craftsy web site and saw the picture of this shawl. I couldn't help myself. I had to make it! And I'm so glad I did. I love it! It is finished, and I can't wait to wear it. I live in a warm weather climate, and it will be perfect for our winters. But it would be wonderful for spring in a colder climate too.

What are you most proud of?

I was very happy to have gotten the center line straight and learned how to do the flower edging. The edging was something I had not done before, and I found that when I followed the directions and watched the video, it was relatively easy to do. By the time I had done a few, it came naturally and easily. Thanks, Kristin for the wonderful instructions.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

I would say to watch the video all the way through on each step of the project. The videos are very clear and really explain the knitting clearly. They were an unbelievable help. I also loved that I can know have the video on my iPad! Now I can sit in the family room with my knitting and have the video right next to me on the couch. Thanks, Craftsy! I feel like the instructor is there right at my elbow as I am working through my project.

Beautiful! I don't know how to knit, but this shawl make me want to learn! Do you have any suggestions at to where to start, ( maybe a craftsy beginner knitting I instructional class) to become as proficient as you?)or does it take years of knowledge/experience, before attempting something this elaborate? Btw, I live in Tampa area myself.

Hi Bobkiss. I definitely think a Craftsy Beginning class would be a good way to go. This shawl is not for a beginner, but with a few classes under your belt, you could do it! All you need to learn are the basic stitches and some patience. But learn the first two stitches of knitting (knit and purl) in a beginners class, and you will amaze yourself! We all had to start someplace, and you will be surprised at the beautiful things you can create with just these two stitches. Plus knitting is a fun, relaxing, and mesmerizing hobby. I hope you enjoy it!

Thanks for your comment. I am loving the shawl, in part because it weighs next to nothing, and it is very comfortable to wear. It is a great pattern!

Thank you. It was really fun to make! I wear it lots in the spring and summer here in FL when we go out to eat and everything is air conditioned to about 55 degrees! :-)
