What was your inspiration?
Loved the fabric. It has a metallic thread running through on of the stripes that really sets it off. I love to sew for children. I enjoy using commercial patterns and adding couture touches such as the silk ribbon embroidery accents on the top and hat of this ensemble.
What are you most proud of?
The silk ribbon embroidery accents. The ensemble includes two pant choices--one pair of clam diggers and one bloomer pant. Because this was made for an 18 month old, the two pant choices are always a 'hit' with the mommies of the kids I sew for. The hat is just charming.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Always have fun with your sewing. Find fabrics you like and patterns and designs you enjoy sewing. It also helps to have darling children to sew for. Fortunately for me, I have an abundance of mommies where we live that love the haute couture and one of a kind outfits I make for their little ones.
