Summer in Western Australia

Detail

Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Stupendous Stitching: Adventures in Surface Design »

Instructions

Enjoy the creativity and try many variations.
I love working with metalic thread, it can be a challenge sometimes, but if you loosen your top tension, ( I loosen mine right off) use a metalic needle and stitch a little slower than usual, a lot of the problems are solved.

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Home

Style: Holiday, Whimsical, Funky, Casual

Materials

Batik from BoldOver Batiks, Sari Ribbon, ( I thought I had Sari yarn, but it was ribbon) Cords for couching, Knitting yarn, Metalic threads, Embroidery threads, Varigated bias binding.

What was your inspiration?

Summer in Western Australia to me is white sandy beaches and turquoise blue water, waves and calm water in the one location.

What are you most proud of?

Finding colours that seem to work together ok.
Representing rolling waves with bubbles and white froth as the waves crash to the shore.
There are many colours in the water and on the beach.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Get the imagination juices flowing and relax and enjoy.

I love this. The colours are gorgeous. I've just completed the machine stitching on my project and am about to start the hand embroidery. Hope it turns out as good as this!
