What was your inspiration?

Fresh color. Variety of textures and heights. Colors balanced but varied.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Try a new plant every year. Experiment with color, and if it doesn't work, nothing has to be permanent. Try again with something else.

If you likw MARIGOLDS, USE SEEDS INSTEAD OF THE PLANTS FROM THE STORE. AFTER THE PLANTS BEGIN TO DRY OUT. TAKE THE DRIED OUT FLOWERS AND CLIP EACH INDIVIDUAL FLOWER. iNT THE MIDDLE YOU WILL FIND A LOT OF SEEDS. KEEP THEM UNTIL AROUND MARCH AND PLANT THEM INDOORS UNTIL THEY BECOME SMALL PLANTS. TRANSPLANT THEM OUTDOORS AROUND THE END OF APRIL. THE FLOWERS WILL GROW AS TALL AS YOUR FENCE.

Thanks for the information. I haven't grown marigolds in years. I used to be allergic to them because they are in the ragweed family. Maybe I should give it another try!

Thank you! I was pleasantly surprised when they bloomed so beautifully! The package of dahlias contained an assortment of tubers, so I didn't know what to expect.
