My second St.St. project was large. Carol Ann said "No rules". So....I was unsure how to hang this on a standard 1" cafe rod. So I made a seperate casing and stitched it on the back. I did put heavy weight interfacing on and the made the casing about 1.5" wide to give enough space for the thickeness of the project.

What was your inspiration?
Stupendous Stitching and getting cabinets put in the basement so I can have an nice sewing area.
What are you most proud of?
One done, the second valance is ready to be finished. Almost there. A friend always asks me, "Is there anything you are happy with when you are done?" This time I can honestly say "YES! I am very happy with these!"
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Because of the thickness/size, I couldn't (didn't want to) keep turning the fabric in the machine to finish the piece. So I did LOTS of single lines all in the same direction.
I feel good about attaching a separate casing. I don't think a standard cafe rod casing would work (a 2.5" hem, split) I think there is too much shifting of the fabric, so it would be hard to get a nice clean flat area.
