Stars and Stripes
Is this your project? Can you share instructions or a pattern with the Craftsy community?

Difficulty:

Category: Crocheting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Home

Style: Traditional, Classic

Materials

Red Heart Super Saver Yarn in Red, Ecru and Dark Blue.

What was your inspiration?

I made this for my husband as an engagement gift! He's a police officer. He was my inspiration for this afghan! This afghan is a Liesure Arts pattern.

What are you most proud of?

I'm most proud of my husband who has faced many obstacles in his life, yet he didn't let anything get in the way of reaching his goals and realizing his dreams! I'm also proud of being an American!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Make sure to purchase plenty of yarn. The stars are all granny squares which are then whipstitched together (I would begin with that first). :)

I made one of these a few years back for my cousin who was serving in the war in Afghanistan, He loved it and hung it in his bunker above his bed.

I LOVE IT !!! How hard is it, really? I have made basic double crochet blankets in the past - am fairly new at crocheting. I would love to make this for my 22 yr old son-in-law who just lost his leg while deployed in Afghanistan. He is currently undergoing numerous surgeries, etc. for his many injuries. I would love to be able to make this and present it to him.

OH WOW! I'm so sorry about your son-in-law! I think i'm going to cry! The red and white stripes were very easy. It's sets of 3 double crochet to and fro. The stars are separate pieces, once you complete 2 or 3 star motifs, you'll get the hang of it and whip them out without looking at the pattern. It's not hard at all, if I could do it, so can you. Sending prayers your way, and may God bless your brave soldier.

Thanks Crochet4fun ! My son-in-law is doing really well - THANK YOU for the prayers !!! If you want to check out his story, go to www.griffinfitzgerald.com It has his story, updates, pictures, etc. One more thing... They are expecting their first child in July. :) They have a long road ahead of them but I know they will make it.
