I am an experienced knitter, but I have had the same struggle with the shape of the squares. I find that when I wet-blocked I was able to square it off quite a bit more. But I think the one weakness in the class was that it didn't spend much time on either picking up the stitches/proportional placement, and proper blocking.

I found that picking up the right number of stitches evenly across was challenging.

I too have struggled with the shape of the logs. I am a tight knitter so I have had to be very conscious about the tension of my knitting. After tearing out the 3rd log three different times I gave up, finished the log and then blocked it before going on to the next log. I have continued to do this for each log. . The shape of the square is not perfect but much improved due to this extra step.

I think if you generally have issues with tension then you will all the more so with this block because of all the different patterns. I just knitted my first one and to my huge surprise it is more or less square. I didn't think it would be as I knitted it, but once I did the final bind off it seemed to have worked! Will post a picture when I've done the borders later today - which I hope won't screw it up!

Same here !! I am so disappointed in this class. I was hoping for a more detailed view of adding new colors & picking up stitches.

I had tension issues with block 3 on my first square, so I am going to try going up a needle size for that block only to see if that will help.
