What was your inspiration?
After taking this wonderful quilting course with Wendy Butler Burns, I was inspired to drag out the VERY FIRST quilt top I ever made and attempt to finish it using some of the techniques I had learned in the course. Because I made SOOO many mistakes wen I was piecing it, due to being a first timer and sorta "winging it", this quilt top had been languishing in my box of UFOs. I didn't love it after I finished piecing it, but when taking the course, I figured it would be kinda apropos if I used it as practice for my first ever attempt at free motion quilting. Anyhow, this is my finished project, a kinda respectable lap quilt. I used a combination of free motion and walking foot techniques. The pictures in the squares were "borrowed" from a coloring book, something I learned from my grandmother years ago.
What are you most proud of?
That my first ever quilt top is now a finished piece.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Just jump in there and do it. You will learn along the way.
