What was your inspiration?

Leaf motifs are a recurring theme in my designs. I love them. I wanted a pair of fingerless gloves that I could wear at the computer, warm without bulk or restrictive of movement, and of course, lovely to look at.

What are you most proud of?

I never get tired of this pattern. I've knit it long, short, as wristwarmers only. I've knitted it in sock weight, sport weight, solids and handpaints. I donate pairs to our annual Animal Shelter Fundraiser Auction and they fly out the door. It has become my #1 bestselling pattern. I wrote a version for worsted weight yarns entitled Spiraling Leaves Mitts.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

The pattern is written for double pointed needles, so that the pattern repeats are separated onto each double pointed needle. This makes it really easy to follow the lace pattern and many new lace knitters have been able to knit this successfully.
