Spiderman Scarf and Facemask

Is this your project? Can you share instructions or a pattern with the Craftsy community?

Difficulty:

Category: Crocheting

Type of item: Accessory

For: Children

Style: Geeky, Casual, Cute

Materials

Hobby Lobby's 'I Love This Yarn' in red and balck

What was your inspiration?

My young nephew loves Spiderman. He was spending the school year in Alaska and I wanted him to have a really warm face-mask to wear. I crocheted both the mask and the scarf free style. I had to call Grandma and Grandpa to do some detailed measurements of his face so that I could get the eye holes in the right place. The hardest part was keeping it a surprise. He loved it. Everyone had a hard time getting him to take it off when he came in from playing outside.

What are you most proud of?

Being able to make something like this without having to use a pattern.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Keep your surface crochet stitches loose. If you don't then you get bulges in the space between the web lines.

Crafters!! Go to "follow this crafter" and read her blog on aching muscles. I've had massages and this works. Happy crafting.
